Description

Yuri Gagarin Signed Cover. 6 1/8 x 4 3/8 inches, issued April 12, 1963. A commemorative cover for Cosmonautics Day, signed by Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin in blue ink at the top right corner, "Gagarin." Gagarin was the first man in space, when on April 12, 1961 his capsule Vostok 1 completed one orbit around the earth.

There are two souvenir stamps and a commemorative postmark depicting a cosmonaut at the top right. At the left, a green stamp depicting a space shuttle and a cosmonaut, captioned (in Russian): "Cosmonautics Day April 12."

Condition: Lightly toned; else fine.
