Fred Haise Signed Large Apollo 13 Damaged and Drifting Service Module Color Photo, with Added Comments. A 16" x 20" silk finish photo of the crippled Apollo 13 Service Module after separation, showing the extensive damage sustained in the oxygen tank explosion that nearly doomed the mission. Signed in gold felt tip: "Our view of the damaged Apollo 13 Service Module!/ Fred Haise/ LMP/ 4-17-70". Excellent.This image dramatically reveals the gaping hole and mangled panels that forced the astronauts into a desperate fight for survival. This is among the most iconic images of the Apollo program, emblematic of NASA's "successful failure." Oversized examples with Haise's inscription directly referencing the damage and the date of splashdown are particularly desirable, making this a striking display piece.
