Apollo: Rare Backup Crew-Signed Covers for Apollo 7 (Stafford, Young, Cernan), Apollo 9 (Conrad, Gordon, Bean), and Apollo 12 (Scott, Worden, Irwin). Three separate philatelic covers, as follows.Apollo 7: A philatelic plain cover bearing a se-tenant pair of 5¢ "Gemini 4" stamps hand-canceled at Kennedy Space Center on October 11, 1968 (launch date). Apollo 7 flight information and names are neatly typed and the are at the bottom: "Tom Stafford", "John Young", and "Gene Cernan". Unaddressed. Excellent.
Apollo 9: A philatelic plain cover bearing a 4¢ "Long May It Wave" stamp hand-canceled at Orlando Fl Kennedy Space Center on March 3. 1969 (launch date). Apollo 9 flight information and names are neatly typed and there is a mission insignia sticker cachet. Signatures are in blue felt tip: "Charles Conrad Jr", "Richard Gordon" and "Alan L Bean". Unaddressed. Excellent
Apollo 12: A philatelic plain cover featuring a desirable NASA KSC stamped cachet and bearing an 6¢ "Apollo 8" stamp perfectly hand-canceled at Kennedy Space Center on November 14, 1969 (launch date). Apollo 12 flight information and crew names are neatly typed and the felt tip signatures are placed above: "Dave Scott", "Al Worden" and "Jim Irwin". Unaddressed. Excellent.
As was common practice, each of these backup crews would fly on the third mission following, e.g. Apollo 10, 12, and 15. From the Family Collection of Jacques Bracke.
