Description
[Abraham Lincoln Assassination]: Scarce Pass to Abraham Lincoln's Funeral at the Executive Mansion. 5" x 3 1/4" printed on thick paper stock with black mourning border. It reads, "EAST. Admit the Bearer to the Executive Mansion, on Wednesday, the 19th of April, 1865." Passes to Lincoln's funeral services at the Executive Mansion were issued in small numbers as attendees were limited to officials and dignitaries. It is said that less than 600 of these passes were printed allowing entrance into the Executive Mansion from various entry points (North, South, East, and Green Room).Condition: Scattered soiling with some minor edgewear and offset toning. Mounting remnants on verso with pencil notations.
