Bound in half-leather over morocco with gilt decoration on front cover. All edges marbled, color fading. Decorative floral endpapers. Frontis portraits of J. A. Garfield and Mrs. James A. Garfield. Rubbing, soiling, wear, and light staining to covers. Sunning on spine. Corners bumped and showing. Browning and soiling on edges. Large open tear on top edge of title page with scab on opposite page. Some dampstaining, light scattered foxing, and light toning throughout. Rear hinge starting at tail.
