Description
The Authorized Underwood Edition In Twenty-Five Volumes - With a Mounted Card Signed by Twain
Mark Twain. The Writings of Mark Twain. Hartford: American Publishing Company, [1901-1907].This set is numbered 108, but the limitation is not stated. Twenty-five octavo volumes (complete). Illustrations throughout. Frontispieces. Mounted to the recto of the portrait frontispiece in Volume I is a two-inch by three-inch card, handwritten in ink, which reads "Very truly yours | S. L. Clemens | Mark Twain | Oct. '83."
Recently bound in half dark blue crushed morocco over light blue cloth boards. Spines decoratively tooled and lettered in gilt in compartments. Top edge gilt. Marbled endpapers. Wear along edges, notably to the heads of several of the spines. Contents tight and bright. Generally, a very good set.
