Description

Apollo Soyuz Test Project: Group of Twenty Vintage Color Transparencies Directly from the Collection of NASA Photo Expert J. L. Pickering. A set of twenty vintage 4" x 5" color transparencies documenting the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project (ASTP), the first international crewed spaceflight, conducted jointly by the United States and Soviet Union in July 1975. Among the images are: The Apollo prime crew members in training and suiting-up procedures; T-38 jet training photographs of the Apollo crew, including candid cockpit views; Saturn launch preparations, with dramatic views of the rocket on the pad by day and night, and many others. The Apollo-Soyuz Test Project marked a historic milestone in the Cold War era, symbolizing a new phase of international cooperation in space. These photographs capture the breadth of preparations, from launch pad rollouts and spacecraft readiness to astronaut training and candid crew moments, providing a comprehensive visual record of the final Apollo spacecraft mission. Very fine.
