Description
John Glenn's STS-95 Flight: Collection of Memorabilia Including Buzz's Owned and Worn MA-6/ STS-95 Cap [and] Personal Typed Letter Signed from Glenn to Aldrin, all Originally from Buzz Aldrin's Personal Collection, with Certificate of Authenticity. As follows.(1) Cap with embroidered patches in front from Mercury-Atlas 6 (Friendship 7) and Space Shuttle Discovery (STS-95); embroidered on back is a 40th Anniversary of NASA logo with the slogan "Pioneering the Future". Also, a color photo of Aldrin holding the cap.
(2) A personal TLS on Senate letterhead dated February 8, 1998, from Glenn to Aldrin congratulating his address to the Lucent Technologies "Achievers Club." Signed at close: "Best regards, Buzz- John Glenn".
(3) A circa 2002 Christmas card to the Aldrins signed "Annie and" "John Glenn".
(4) An October 1998 copy of Final Frontier Magazine with John Glenn on the cover, "A Hero Returns To Orbit," with Buzz Aldrin's mailing label on the front.
(5) STS-95 launch souvenir items including a 4" embroidered mission patch, two pinback buttons, Buzz's ID card, and a photo of Buzz and Lois at the location.

Buzz and John Glenn were longtime friends. Aldrin wrote as part of Glenn's memorial: "I first met John Glenn in 1953 when I was a fighter pilot in South Korea in the 16th squadron and the 51st fighter group. He was the Ops officer of the 25th squadron in the 51st fighter group. The next time I learned about him he flew of course on his first orbital flight and then when I reported as a NASA astronaut in 1963 and started training in 1964 we both became elders in the same church in Houston, TX... I saw him at various memorials and astronaut gatherings over the years and I believe the last time we saw each other in person was at Neil Armstrong's memorial at the National Cathedral although we spoke by phone and corresponded by email since then."
