Mercury-Redstone 3 (Freedom 7): Twelve Vintage Glossy Finish Photos of Alan Shepard and Fellow Mercury Astronauts at Grand Bahamas AFB, from the Personal Archives of NASA Legend Bill Taub. Twelve generally 8" x 10" B&W images of Shepard gathering with fellow astronauts after he had been medically examined following his flight. Great candid images of his colleagues congratulating him and looking forward to their own flights that would continue to push boundaries and make history. Several shots of Shepard wearing sunglasses due to his eyes being dilated. Overall very fine.NOTE: The photos from this archive were the inspiration for the recent book by J. L. Pickering and John Bisney, Photographing America's First Astronauts, Project Mercury Through the Lens of Bill Taub. A beautiful book from the Purdue University Press. Highly recommended.
