[Louis-Guillaume de La Folie.] Le Philosophe Sans Pretention, ou L'Homme Rare. Paris: Clousier, 1775. First edition. Octavo. 8 x 5 1/4 inches (204 x 134 mm). 349, [1, imprint] pages. Contemporary full mottled calf, spine with decorative gilt tooling, compartments with central sunflower ornament, morocco spine label with gilt titling, board edges with single gilt fillet, marbled endpapers. Heavy scuffing with numerous abrasions to leather, corners bumped and rubbed, joints split, some losses to head and tail exposing endbands. Text block edges stained red, top edge dusted, bookplate of noted aeronautical collector Frederick I. Ordway III to front pastedown, some off-setting from turn-ins, scuffing to edges of endpapers, bookseller notations to front and rear binders blanks. Light foxing and staining to margins throughout. Good.
