Description

Edmond Hamilton. The Horror on the Asteroid and Other Tales of Planetary Horror. London: Philip Allan, 1936. First edition, with no statement of printing on the copyright page. Octavo. 188 x 126 mm. 256 pages. Red publisher's cloth, spine lettered in black, in original illustrated dust jacket. Corners somewhat bumped and rubbed, light edgewear, toned along edges, head and tail slightly pushed, spine with mottled staining. Text block edges toned and lightly dusted, bookseller's notation to front free endleaf in pencil. Internally clean. Dust jacket priced "2/6 net" on spine, chipping along edges with some losses, soiled, inner flaps toned, paper reinforcement to top and bottom edges.

One of the earliest collections of pulp science fiction stories, from Philip Allan's "Creeps" series of anthologies, and very representative of Hamilton's early work.
