London: William Heinemann Ltd., 1938. First English edition. Octavo. Publisher's black cloth lettered in gilt on spine, with red endpapers. Recased, moderate edgewear, corners bumped, some scuffing, head and spine pushed with some soiling. Text block edges toned and lightly foxed, top edge dusted, bookseller notation to half title, edges of first and last leaf heavily browned. Dust jacket unclipped, priced "7s. 6d." to inner front flap, remainder label to spine; soiled, inner flaps with scattered staining, tape repairs to inner flap folds on verso, spine sunned, later price sticker affixed to spine, chipping along edges with small tears along folds, some loss to head and tail affecting text; cut along bottom edge affecting publisher by-line. Very good book in good dust jacket.[Together With:] Carter Dickson. The Department of Queer Complaints. London: William Heinemann Ltd., 1940. First English edition. Octavo. 190 x 135 mm. [6], 241, [1, blank] pages. Publisher's blue cloth lettered in black. Boards bowed, moderate edgewear, corners bumped and rubbed, some soiling, spine sunned, scattered staining to lower board, head and tail pushed, wear along joints. Binding slightly cocked, shaken, text block edges toned, top edge dusted, hinges starting, ownership signature to front free endleaf recto, pencil notations to front endpapers. Pages generally toned. Dust jacket unclipped, priced "7s. 6d. net" to inner front flap, edges and verso foxed, spine sunned, some soiled, some crinkling to head and tail, light scattered staining, abrasions to inner rear flap obscuring title list. Good book in good dust jacket.

Dust jacket unclipped, priced "$2.00" to inner front flap, light chipping along edges with minimal losses, some crinkling and creasing to edges of inner flaps, later seller's label to inner rear flap, some soiling.
