Description

John Dickson Carr. The Blind Barber. New York: Harper & Brothers, 1934. First edition. Octavo. 190 x 135 mm. [8], 279, [1, blank] pages. Publisher's smooth black cloth stamped in reddish-orange, in the original illustrated dust jacket. Light edgewear, corners bumped, head and tail just pushed. Text block edges toned, top edge dirt-stained and foxed, hinges starting, text block somewhat shaken, off-setting and staining to endpapers, bookseller label to front pastedown, bookseller notations to front free endleaf recto, remnant of Harper's Sealed Mystery adhesive to rear endleaves. Dust jacket clipped, and decoratively clipped; soiled all-over, chipping and tears along edges with minimal loss, rubbing with some effacement to spine, scattered staining to inner flaps, verso heavily reinforced and repaired with thick tape. Very good book in good dust jacket. From the Gary Munson Collection
