Description

Benjamin Harrison et al: Photos of Election Scenes. 1) Wonderful cabinet card from Cortland, New York showing crowd posed in front of the Harrison & Morton log cabin headquarters. A Grover Cleveland lookalike appears in the foreground, being driven in an ox cart by a young black boy. "Grover" holds a sign that reads "Where, Oh Where Shall I Go. They Don't Want Me in Buffalo". One of the best of the genre. 2) 7.25" x 9.25" sepia photo of a group of matronly ladies standing on the corner with a large Hoover & Curtis web street banner overhead, inscribed "Brooklyn Women's Constitutional Hoover-Curtis Campaign Committee". Circa 1928. 3) 8.5" x 7.5" photo of the same club members posed alongside a large Hoover campaign float, circa 1932. 4) 19.5" x 15" mounted photograph of the "Uncle Sammy Twins" sitting on the trunk of a campaign vehicle in Kansas City, Missouri. Looks like they're holding Tootsie Roll pops. Someone has written the names of the five ladies pictured. 5) 8" x 10" glossy photo of a Truman for President parade in rainy Albany, New York. 6) 8" x 10" glossy photo of Eisenhower personal appearance at a campaign rally in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Condition: Very good overall with hinge remnants on all examples.
