Description

Early 18th Century English Military Hanger. Having a 27 1/4-inch slightly curved blade with single narrow fuller. Brass hilt with single knucklebow and clam shell guards. Brass finger-form grip with figural pommel. No scabbard. A similar sword is pictured on page 85 of Swords and Hilt Weapons by Coe-Wilkinson, et al.

Condition: Fair. Blade has been buffed and polished to bright steel with several spots of pitting present on blade. Hilt has also been buffed to bright brass. Estimate: $1,000 / 1,500
