Description

Vessel in the Form of a Curled Dog

Colima
Ça 200 BC-200 AD
Slipped and burnished ceramic

6½" High x 11" Wide

The dog is shown comfortably curled with his chin resting on his tail. He appears to have something in his mouth. His eyes are incised and his nose is snout-like. A large oval spout emerges from the dog's back, making him more of a true vessel than most Colima objects. The object is in very good condition with a calcium patina.
