A wonderful handwritten letter measuring 5 x 6 ½" on a sheet labeled "Memorandum" from Eleanor Roosevelt to George Marvin, Esquire at Thanksgiving time in the 1930s where ER mentions FDR in two different contexts, including the fact that he is finally getting some rest, and writes out FDR's initials. ER writes in her own hand: "Dear George:/ I think it's good and what is more important F.D.R. thinks so but I do think it may be a bit too long./ Your letter made me realize what a bad correspondent I always am and I feel very humble and grateful for I realize that though my thoughts are often with you, you can't very well read it!/ There is a fairly constant stream of visitors but not at many as last time and F. is getting more rest. I've done no work but I've had lots of exercise and zest./ Good luck,/ Affectionately,/ E.R./ Thanksgiving/ D. C." George Marvin, a journalist and editor, was an old acquaintance of FDR from his Groton days. A very interesting and personal letter, mentioning FDR's approval as well as his health status, written entirely in ER's own hand.
