Description

Group of Three Civil War Artillery Projectiles. Group includes: (1) US 2.9 inch Dyer shell with the zinc Dyer time fuze adapter. Has the zinc alloy cup sabot with four deep flame grooves cut into the sabot, not attached to the body of the projectile. Shell has been cleaned and varnished. Light pitting over entire body; (2) US 2.9 inch Schenkl case shot shell. Has a portion of the zinc Schenkl combination fuze with numbers still visible. Projectile painted black, light surface rust; (3) A wonderful example of a US 2.94 inch Schenkl percussion shell. The standard brass Schenkl percussion fuze unscrews with the leather washer intact. Has Schenkl's name and patent date stamped on the head. This shell is in perfect condition with original paper time fuze. Very nice US group.
