Description
Group of Three Civil War Artillery Projectiles. Group includes: (1) US 2.94 inch Type II Hotchkiss with a very nice Hotchkiss time fuze adapter. Has three deep flame grooves cut through the lead sabot. Hotchkiss' patent date etc. partially visible on the bottom. Perfect condition with original paper time fuze.; (2) CS 2.9 inch 10 pounder smooth long pattern Read case shot shell. The CS fuze adapter for rifled projectiles made longer with two spanner holes in the head. Projectile cleaned, very minor areas of pitting. Wrought iron sabot intact and lathe dimple visible on the bottom; (3) CS 2.94 inch "Virginia" pattern Read shell. Missing the copper tapered ring sabot. Used the wooden time fuze adapter. A nice example of the "Bourreleted" projectile with nice smooth surface. Very nice group.Auction Info
