Description

Civil War Federal Officer's McClellan Saddle with Smooth Covered Seat. Copper trimmed pommel cantle arcs. Seat has a stitched scroll design with most of the stitching gone but the original pattern clearly visible. Original leather covered stirrups and straps in very good condition. A leather girth is attached to the original girth billet. Underside with heavy padding. Overall excellent condition, showing its age, but very sound. Accompanying the saddle is a headstall with large brass relief "US" rosettes and brass faced bit with the original reins. The entire set retains all of the original brass faced buckles. An exceptionally nice Civil War US officer's saddle.
