Description
Ames 1860 and 1906 Cavalry Sabers. As follow: (1) A beautiful 1860 Cavalry Saber stamped "Ames Mfg. Co." sidewise on the blade near the hilt with no government or inspector's marks as sold by Ames in the post-Civil War years to city and state militias. The grip is complete with the original leather and the wire wrap is intact. A fine sword in a slightly worn scabbard. (2) The 1906 Cavalry saber is marked "A.S.Co." with a flaming bomb and the date "1906" on one side of the ricasso and "US" and inspector's mark "JC" on the other. The wire wrap is missing from the grip and most of the finish has worn off of the iron hilt. The blade has some darkened areas and the scabbard is worn, otherwise it is in very good condition.Auction Info
