Description
ANCIENT NEAR EAST. Late Bronze Age, circa 1200-900 BC. Luristan bronze mace or cudgel head. Similar in overall design to previous lot, tubular 3.94 inches (10 cm) in length, the upper section divided into three compartments, each with three raised spikes, the compartments divided by raised serpents. Attractive green patina with light earthen encrustation. Cf. Archaeological Center Israel Auction 48, lot 447, for a cudgel with similar serpentine decoration.From the Hadgi Baba Museum Collection, Old City Jerusalem; IAA Export Approval # 530994.
