Description

Apollo 11: Manned Spacecraft Center First Day Cover with Flown Segment of Kapton Foil. A philatelic cover with a single stamp (Scott #C76) tied to the cover cancelled in Houston, Texas on September 9, 1969. Featuring a MSCSC cachet, as well as a segment of flown Kapton foil removed from the Command Module Columbia upon its return to earth. The reverse features images of the mission insignia, as well as the Lunar Plaque. Included with the lot is a LOA copy from W. R. Whipkey describing his acquisition of the flown material. Very fine.
