Description

Dakota Indian Territory: An Interesting Nelson Miles 1874 U.S. Cavalry Document from Indian Territory. Written "Headqrs Ind Terr. Expedition, Camp Oasis Creek, I.T.," this is an order for two large parties to scout and forage for the 8th Cavalry. They are to be accompanied by "Guide and Interpreter Ben. Clark," who was Custer's chief of scouts at the time of the Battle of Washita. The order is penned and signed by an adjutant on behalf of famed General Nelson Miles. Two 7.5" x 10" pages, written on lined paper, in excellent condition except for spindle holes along left border.
