"The Race Into Space": Complete Set of Fifty Brooke Bond Tea Tobacco Cards from 1971 (Blue Printing on Backs), Covering Sputnik to the Manned Flight To Mars, in Archival Binder Sleeves. A set of cards that should be of special interest to Space collectors and futurists. They are double-sided and measure 10.5" x 2.75", issued after the first few U.S. trips to the moon. They do a great job of covering the highlights of the space race including Sputnik 1, Explorer I, Echo 1, Vostok, Mercury, Telstar 1, Voskhod, Gemini 3, Luna, Surveyor 3, Mariner 4, Soyuz, Saturn V, Apollo C/SM, & Apollo LM. They project into the then-possible future with the last few cards: LRV, Skylab, Viking, Space Shuttle, Lunar Shuttle, Moon Base, and The Manned Flight to Mars (projected for 1981/82!). Nice graphics and interesting captions. Very fine overall.Auction Info
