Apollo Program: Four Commemorative Covers Relating to Apollo Missions. Apollo 1: Philatelic cover with B&W pictorial cachet featuring all three astronauts that were killed in the accident. Cancelled at Port Washington, NY, on January 27, 1967. The tragic date of the "plugs-out" test that resulted in the fire.Apollo 8: Philatelic cover with an encapsulated "Apollo 8" stamp cancelled on May 5, 1985, the sixteenth anniversary of the date the stamp was issued.
Apollo 11: Philatelic cover with an encapsulated "First Man on the Moon" stamp cancelled on September 9, 1996, the 27th anniversary of the date the stamp was issued.
Apollo 11: "First Man on the Moon" First Day Cover. A philatelic cover with a single stamp tied to the cover with the dual Washington DC/ Moon Landing U S A "First Day of Issue" cancellation dated September 9, 1969. Beautiful silk cachet attached, depicting all three crew members, as well as Aldrin and Armstrong on the moon's surface. All excellent.
