Description

Space Shuttle Columbia (STS-2) Flown American Flag on Presentation Certificate. A 5.75" x 4.125" U.S. cloth flag mounted on an 8.5" x 11" printed certificate with facsimile signatures of Administrator James M. Beggs and crewmembers Joe Engle and Richard Truly. The printed text reads: "This Flag was flown aboard the second flight of the Space Shuttle 'Columbia' (STS-2), November 12-14, 1981. It is presented to you in recognition of the significant contribution you made to the success of the mission. Presented to Charles D. Clary" (he was director of quality control for Lockheed's Space Shuttle program). There is the typical bleedthrough on the flag from the glue, otherwise very fine.
