Description
Lot of Two Excavated Civil War Artillery Shells. Comprising: 1) U.S. Hotchkiss 3-inch Artillery Shell. Excavated. Nice flame grooves. Has brass fuze intact, but missing the lead sabot band. Good shape. Has been professionally cleaned and coated. Deactivated. 2) Confederate 3-inch Artillery Shell. Excavated from the Battle of Stone's River, Tennessee. Condition: 1) Good. Showing age wear and pitting overall. 2) Missing a portion of one side of nose section, but doesn't really detract from the shell. Fuze grooves strong and visible. Missing the copper sabot. Both have been professionally cleaned and coated.Auction Info
