Description
Apollo-Soyuz Test Project Flown Beta Cloth Mission Insignia Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission U.S. Commander Tom Stafford, Signed and Certified, with Signed Letter of Authenticity. A 5.5" square swatch of Beta cloth with the mission insignia at center. It is signed in black felt tip: "Flown on ASTP, July 15-24, 1975/ T.P.S./ Tom Stafford". Very fine.Included with this lot is a signed presentation LOA on Stafford, Burke and Hecker letterhead reading, in full: "This Apollo-Soyuz Beta cloth emblem was carried in space on the historic Apollo-Soyuz Test Project during July 15 - 24, 1975. It was placed in my personal preference kit (PPK) on board the Apollo command module. Beta cloth material was designed for fire protection and was used in our Apollo spacesuits."
