John Young Signed Apollo 16 Lunar Surface "Leaping Salute" Color Photo, with Added Comments. A 10" x 8" silk finish photo on Kodak Endura paper depicting Apollo 16 Commander John Young performing his famous "leaping salute" on the lunar surface at Descartes Highlands in April 1972. To his right stands the U.S. flag, the Lunar Module Orion, and the parked Lunar Roving Vehicle. It is boldly signed in white ink: "John Young / 9th Man on the Moon / Apollo 16 CDR". This iconic image captures one of the most memorable and exuberant moments of the Apollo program, symbolizing both the human spirit of exploration and the lighter side of lunar surface activities.
