Description

Group Five astronauts as selected in April 1966

NASA Astronaut Group Five: Color Photo Signed by Eighteen. A 13.75" x 8.25" photo of the group, all in business suits and seated at or standing behind a long table, handsomely double matted and framed to an overall 21.5" x 16.5". Signed boldly in various felt tips: [top row] "Jack Swigert", "Bill Pogue", "Ron Evans", "Paul Weitz", "Jim Irwin", "Jerry Carr", "Stuart A Roosa", "Al Worden", "Ken Mattingly", "Jack Lousma" [bottom row] "Ed Mitchell", "Charlie Duke Jr", "Don Lind", "Fred W. Haise", "Joe Engle", "Vance Brand", "John S. Bull", and "Bruce McCandless II". All but two of this group flew into space at least once. John Bull resigned once he learned he was suffering from pulmonary disease and Edward Givens was killed in a 1967 car crash (he has not signed). Quite a difficult item to find. Various edge tears and crinkling but the colors are strong, near fine in appearance.

Of this group of nineteen, an amazing nine of them flew to the moon including three moonwalkers (Irwin, Mitchell, and Duke). All told, this group accounts for twenty-six space missions across the Apollo, Skylab, Apollo-Soyuz, and Shuttle programs.
