Description

German V-1 Rocket Autopilot Unit. Vintage unit with various components and electronic connections housed in a 13" x 13" x 7.5" metal casing. These units were designed to be used in the V-1 flying bomb, which was an unmanned cruise missile. Between 1944 and 1945 nearly 3,000 of these missiles were launched by the Germans toward Britain and Belgium, with a targeted number of fifteen launches per day. Some components are not present, however the control dial and gyroscope are here. An outstanding display piece of early rocketry history. Signs of age related wear, overall very good.
