Description

Ex. James Lovell

Gemini 7 Flown MS65 NGC Silver-colored Fliteline Medallion Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission Pilot James Lovell, with His Signed Letter of Certification. This 25mm medal was flown aboard Gemini 7 with crewmembers Frank Borman and Jim Lovell, December 4-18, 1965. The obverse features the mission insignia that includes the Roman numeral "VII", a Gemini space capsule, and an Olympic torch, said to symbolize the marathon nature of this flight. The reverse bears the crew surnames, "GT-7", and the engraved dates of the mission. Gemini 7 acted as the rendezvous target for Gemini 6A and evaluated a "shirt sleeve" environment inside the spacecraft. An awesome Gem Uncirculated example.

Included with this lot is a signed Letter of Certification from Lovell on his letterhead reading, in full: "I hereby certify that this Fliteline Silver Colored Medallion was flown with me aboard my Gemini 7 mission in December, 1965. This medal is from my personal collection of space artifacts and has been in my possession since the mission."
