Description

Ex. Charlie Duke

Apollo 16 Command Module Flown "Senator Duke" Tag, Directly from the Personal Collection of Pilot Charlie Duke. A 2" x 0.5" tag, silver on black, attached to a signed Letter of Authenticity from Duke that tells the entire story: "This is to certify that this small tag labeled SENATOR DUKE accompanied me to the moon aboard the Command Module 'Casper' on Apollo 16, the fifth lunar landing mission. Apollo 16 lifted off from the Kennedy Space Center in April 16, 1972. This label was affixed to my seat on the right side of the Command Module. I noticed it as I was climbing into the Command Module before liftoff. It had been placed there by the back up crew to remind me of some of our friendly political discussions while in training. Before reentry, I managed to recover this label and since that time it has remained as a treasured part of my personal space collection. Display this label with pride as a remembrance of the Apollo Program where man first ventured beyond Earth's orbit." Very unique flown artifact. Included with this lot is a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Charlie Duke. Excellent.
