Description
Two Civil War Soldier's Check Books. 3 3/4" X 6 1/4" closed, 7 1/2" open. Preprinted on covers "Soldier's Check Book / G. O. 305, of 1864 / Reg't Ohio Vol. " The one example is pink and filled out for Charles Gates Co. K 196 Ohio". The other is blue green and filled out for Stephen Young of an unknown Ohio regiment. Charles Gates enlisted in the 196th Ohio on 3/1/65 and mustered out 9/11/65. Verso of both with printed instructions on how to claim the funds listed in the book. Both in sound complete condition with some staining and wear. Most unusual.Auction Info
