Description

[Slavery]. Three Cartes de Visite of New Orleans Slaves. Measuring 2.5" x 4", each card features Rebecca, Charley, and Rosa, "slave children from New Orleans." All three children are white (or are biracial) and were, according to research, used as a propaganda tool to solicit money from rich Notherners to support "the education of Colored People." In one of the photos, the children are learning from Wilson Chinn, a former African slave from a sugar plantation.
