Description

Abraham Lincoln: A Spectacular Red, White, and Blue Civil War Patriotic Ribbon. While probably not a campaign issue (although it could well date from the summer of 1864), this is surely one of the most spectacular of Lincoln ribbon designs. The materials and manner of construction, plus the absence of any reference to Lincoln's martyrdom, strongly suggest that this ribbon was made during the War period. Unlisted by Sullivan and Fischer, it's the only example we have ever encountered. It was purchased several years ago in a New York Lincoln specialty auction, where it fetched in the mid-$3000 range after fierce bidding. Beautiful condition and a wonderful centerpiece for any Lincoln collection! Width 2.375", length 7.25".
