Description

[Fort Mims Massacre]. Daniel Beasley, Commander of Fort Mims Autograph Document Signed. "D. Beasley." One page, 7" x 1.75". In full: "Recd. 1. April 1812 of Capt. David H. Bell Twenty nine dollars and seventy five cents in full of the written account." The Mims Massacre occurred the Creek War on August 30, 1813. Beasley was a Major in charge of Fort Mims. Despite several warnings coupled with his lack of command, Beasley was largely responsible for the massacre by Creek warriors.

Condition: Paper toned otherwise a bright, legible document with a bold signature. Excellent.

Provenance: From the Private Collection of a Mississippi Gentleman.
