First edition. 8vo. iv, [5]-726 pages, with illustrations inserted throughout. Contemporary half leather over marbled boards, spine stamped in gilt with raised bands. This volume contains monthly iterations of a Revolutionary War report titled, "The Rise and Progress of the Present Unhappy War in America," on pages 28, 73, 131, 191, 241, 297, 353, 427, 465, and 590. With sections on foreign occurrences published for each month.

The Town and Country Magazine was a monthly gossip publication founded by Archibald Hamilton in Great Britain. Though it was best known for featuring stories of scandals and affairs between members of London's upper classes, the publication also featured essays, poetry, and commentary on current events, including public and international affairs.

Condition: Boards heavily worn and chipped, with bumped corners and cracked hinges. Offset toning at the edges of the endpapers. Text block lightly toned, with scattered staining and foxing throughout.
