In full: "Please to pay Nathaniel Coleman Five pounds Six-Teen Shillings for his Arms & Cloathing lost in the attack on Quebeck Dec 31, 1775 in which he was taken Prisoner - out of the Connecticut Forces as is Accounts Exchange the State." Signed "Oliver Ellsworth" as a committee member (Pay-Table office), and by John Lawrence as treasurer. Endorsed on verso.
