Description

John Hancock Document Signed "John Hancock." One page, 7.5" x 11.5", Boston, Massachusetts; October 20, 1788. Signing as Governor of Massachusetts, Hancock confirms the position of Samuel Cooper as Justice of the Peace in Suffolk County. Boldly signed by Hancock underneath the Massachusetts seal, and countersigned by John Avery, Jr. as Secretary.

Condition: Toned throughout with flattened folds. Partial separation along fold, with chipping, and a few closed tears. Minor amount of paper loss at center right. Soiling at the lower right corner. There is also a small bit of worming to seal. Hancock's signature is bold and clear.
