Description
Alexander Hamilton Signature on Cover. 10 x 8 inches, New York; November 20, 1789. A postal cover addressed to "William Webb Esqr. Collector of the Customs for Bath in Massachusetts," signed at the lower left "A Hamilton." Stamped "New York" in black at the top left. Docketed at the bottom edge, "Hon Alex Hamilton Esqr. Letter respectg Bank notes of Boston," with remnants of red sealing wax.Condition: Lightly toned with smoothed folds, including one passing through the "l" of Hamilton's signature. A few small separations at fold lines and one short tear at the top edge, not affecting text. Remnants from previous mounting at the top edge. Minor soiling and a few light stains.
