8vo. Publisher's light blue cloth lettered in gilt on the upper cover and spine. Original orange pictorial dust jacket, unclipped (priced "2.50").

First American edition. INSCRIBED BY WELLS TO JOURNALIST/WRITER VALENTINE WILLIAMS, on the half-titled: "Dear Valentine ... / Yours / H. G."

Condition: Fading to the cloth with some minor edgewear and a few spots to front board. Dust jacket slightly tonight and a little rubbed on the spine panel; a few light creases, including along the fold of the front panel; repaired loss to the rear panel and fold.
