Description
H. G. Wells. Apropos of Dolores. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1938.8vo. Publisher's light blue cloth lettered in gilt on the upper cover and spine. Original orange pictorial dust jacket, unclipped (priced "2.50").
First American edition. INSCRIBED BY WELLS TO JOURNALIST/WRITER VALENTINE WILLIAMS, on the half-titled: "Dear Valentine ... / Yours / H. G."
Condition: Fading to the cloth with some minor edgewear and a few spots to front board. Dust jacket slightly tonight and a little rubbed on the spine panel; a few light creases, including along the fold of the front panel; repaired loss to the rear panel and fold.
Provenance: Phantom Bookshop (bookseller's receipt). The Victor Gulotta Collection.
