Octavo. 410 pages. Publisher's tan paper over boards backed in brown cloth, spine stamped in gilt; original illustrated dust jacket designed by Wendell Minor. Minor edgewear, foot of spine just pushed. Tan endpapers. Internally clean and tight, all edges trimmed; text block toned along margins and edges, small spot of soiling to the fore-edge. Dust jacket unclipped ($9.95); very minor edgewear, spine lightly sunned. Publisher's advance review slip and black and white photographic promotional print of the author laid in. Fine book with near fine dust jacket.Source material for the 1983 American film by the same name, written, produced, and directed by James L. Brooks and starring Debra Winger, Shirley MacLaine, Jack Nicholson, Danny DeVito, Jeff Daniels, and John Lithgow. The film was a major critical and commercial success, receiving an incredible eleven Academy Award nominations, of which it won five, including Best Picture.
