Hand-colored double-page engraved map of Africa, containing a beautiful cartouche showing Europeans, Africans, and various African animals with views of Cape Town, South Africa. Matted and framed.
Johann Matthias Haas' revision of J.B. Homann's 1715 map of Africa, augmented to include important cartographic developments as recorded by Guillaume Delisle and D'Anville.
Condition: Some pale dampstaining; some marginal tape repairs on verso; remnants of guard along central fold on verso; some wrinkling at margin edges; some dust soiling.
