8vo. Original coarse tan linen cloth, gilt-lettered brown morocco spine label; publisher's board slipcase with limitation number in holograph at the spine (as noted by Newton McKeon in Crane).

FIRST EDITION, LIMITED ISSUE, number 24 of 803 copies, SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR. ADDITIONALLY INSCRIBED BY FROST WITH FOUR LINES OF VERSE FROM HIS POEM "DESERT PLACES" on the front free endpaper: "They cannot scare me with their empty spaces / Between stars - on stars where no human race is; / I have it in me so much nearer home / To scare myself with my own desert places / Robert Frost / For Harold Baily."

The four inscribed lines of verse comprise the final stanza of Frost's poem "Desert Places" which appears in the present volume on p. 48.

Condition: Fine book. Publisher's slipcase with light wear only; else, fine.
