Raymond Chandler. The High Window. New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1942. First edition. Octavo (7.5 x 5.125 inches; 190 x 128 mm.). [10], 240 pages. Publisher's light brown cloth, front and spine stamped and lettered in purple; top edge of the text block trimmed, others untrimmed; in the original illustrated dust jacket. Mild shelf wear at extremities of binding. Slight toning to text block edges. One or two interior pages creased, possibly from old dog-earing; fore- and bottom edges slightly roughened. Color correction applied to mask wear at edges, joint and flap folds of dust jacket; one small spot of loss to paper surface at front flap fold; rear panel faintly toned; price-clipped. Archival repairs visible at verso spine and flap fold ends of jacket; one closed tear at rear panel. Near fine in an expertly restored jacket.
