Description
[Texas Rangers]. Captain Frank Jones Cabinet Card, 1888. 4.25" x 6.5", featuring Jones in a full standing studio portrait. Jones was murdered in June 1893 by a band of Mexican bandits near San Elizario, Texas. His killers were brought to justice by a posse of Company "D" Rangers under Captain John R. Hughes. Walter Durbin, another Ranger from Company "D," writes on the verso, "Frank Jones Capt Co 'D' Texas Rangers Rio Grande City Tex Nov 1888." A previous collector has written his name on the verso in modern ink. Negligible wear to corners of card and slight tape damage to verso.
