Description

William McKinley et al: Eleven Assorted Campaign Items From 1896 & 1900. From the William McKinley and William Jennings Bryan battles of 1896 and 1900 are featured an array of 11 various badges and pins. This era of political campaigns created arguably the most beautiful and elaborately designed ribbon badges ever to grace a lapel! Two examples included feature a 1 3/4" celluloid with John C. Fremont from Peoria, Ill. and McKinley and Hobart from Hudson County, NJ. Approximately 2 1/2" x 8" each, both are in excellent condition. A matched pair of McKinley and Bryan badges with paper portraits in brass and silver gilt metal frames suspended by eagle hangers are sized 1 1/2" x 2 1/4". Two varieties of 7/8", "Full Dinner Pail" metal stickpins are included, one missing its pin on the reverse. A 1900 encased Indian Head penny stickpin with Bryan & Stevenson jugate is superb.

Condition: The 1 3/4" celluloid button "I Live In K.C. Ask Me" has hairline cracks. All other items are in excellent condition. The Washington 1897 inaugural badge with colorful image of McKinley on the obverse, features an equally beautiful colorful jugate image of Mr. & Mrs. McKinley on the reverse.
