Description

Horatio Seymour: Two-Sided Pictorial Handbill "Greenbacks for Bonds". 8" x 9 1/2" handout titled "Greenbacks for Bonds". The top features a pseudo-$1 bill with portrait of the 1868 Democratic candidate for President. The balance of the sheet lists various arguments in support of repaying war bonds in greenbacks, rather than gold. The back side, titled "The Contract", reprints the 1862 "Law authorizing the first issue of Greenbacks and 5.20 Bonds". Partial separation at central horizontal fold, minor aging. Essentially intact and hard to find so, as the portion depicting the greenback is typically found cut off.

Condition: Light folds and a few scattered trivial stains and tiny holes noticeable only when held to a light source. Overall very good condition.
